Q. What land did Japan gain after the Sino-Japanese War? Asked by ... - Wed Feb 25 14:46:30 2009 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments A. I just looked it up for you. The Treaty of Shimonoseki ended the Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895). The Treaty granted independence to Korea. Japan received the Liaodong Peninsula in northeastern China and the island of Taiwan. The Chinese also agreed to pay Japan about $150 million and allow the Japanese to run factories in China. But Russia, France and Germany forced Japan to return the Liaodung Peninsula to China and accept an additional payment instead. I hope that this has been a help to you.
