Japanese maples have a tendencie to fade in the summer and I want a red maple that will hold its color. Any suggestions? Asked by John W - Thu Oct 19 18:09:30 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Make sure you purchase a grafted tree - NOT a seedling. I like 'Bloodgood' as it has a very dark red foliage that retains its color even in summer heat. I will add that some trees are more red than others, even grafted trees. Try to purchase one in the summer that has been exposed to direct sunlight. You will get a chance to see how red the tree is. You can purchase it and plant it in the fall when the conditions are right for planting. Answered by DR_NC - Thu Oct 19 21:43:35 2006 What is considered as the Japanese breakfast? What are my options for breakfast? Q. What do Japanese eat for breakfast? What is a typical Japanese breakfast like? To be specific, what type of food does it normally consist? And the price? Other than western-style ham and eggs, what are my options for breakfast in Tokyo? I will be staying in Ikebukuro. Thanks. Rice balls (onigiri) with different flavors, but most used in such hotels are the onigiri with konbu( like a seaweed, great for health, but still I don't like it) or sour plum. Also, you get tsukemono( different types of pickles, mostly radish, miniature eggplant, cucumber, but it depends on the hotel also). Another part of the Japanese style breakfast is miso soup(miso is beans paste, low calorie, healthy and delicious). If you are lucky, you may get tamago yaki( omelette, baked in a roll, really good one and not that greasy), beautifully cut out fish paste, jellied beans paste(tofu), sweet or sweetened beans. Also, western breakfast is hardly ham&eggs in Japan. Mostly, it is different types of tasty freshly baked bread, cereal, salad,… [cont.] Answered by Princess Kushinada - Sat Dec 1 19:54:52 2007 How do Japanese People show affection in different ways to people in Europe, and if so how?
Q. In school I have to do an art project on Japan and I bought a book, sadly it does not mention much culture just the country itself, so I was wondering if Japanese people have different gestures to europeans. If they do , how? I read that a show of affection in japan is for the man to lay on the woman's lap, is this true? Also, do they celebrate Valentine's day? Thank you ^^ Arigatou!! Asked by MusicalNature - Wed Jan 21 11:00:51 2009 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments A. I lived in Japan for 2 years. I noticed they rarely, if ever, show public displays of affection. You will almost never see a Japanese couple holding hands or kissing in public. This was purely my experience when I was there. I liked that. Why? In Europe I noticed many people tend to show affection in public. I don't mind the holding hands, but when people start to make out in front of me, and I saw that a lot in Europe, it annoys me. Why? I don't need to see it. As for the man laying on a woman's lap, I don't know.
