China (simplified Chinese: 中国; traditional Chinese: 中國; Hanyu Pinyin: Zhōngguó (help·info); Tongyong Pinyin: Jhongguó; Wade-Giles: Chung¹kuo²) is a cultural region, an ancient civilization, and, depending on perspective, a national or multinational entity extending over a large area in East Asia.

In 1949, when major combat ended in the Chinese Civil War, two political entities emerged having the term "China" in their names:

China has one of the world's oldest civilizations and has the oldest continuous civilization. It has archaeological evidence dating back over 5,000 years. China was the largest and most advanced civilization for much of recorded history and is viewed as the source of many major inventions. It has also one of the world's oldest written language systems. Historically, China's cultural sphere has extended across East Asia as a whole, with Chinese religion, customs, and writing systems being adopted to varying degrees by neighbors such as Japan, Korea and Vietnam. The first evidence of human presence in the region was found at the Zhoukoudian cave and is one of the first known specimens of Homo erectus, now commonly known as the Peking Man, estimated to have lived from 300,000 to 780,000 years ago.

Where in China is the best place to buy fake high quality brands?
Q. I am going to China in a few weeks. I have been there and I know that to buy fake high quality brands Beijing is a good place but higher price than Shenzhen, close to Hong Kong. But I am wondering where is the place in China that high quality and price are the best for fake goods as bags, watches, etc?

A. there are three place you can try:Guangzhou,Shenzhen,Yi Wu. these place have many factories, so maybe you can get good price at the same quality than others cities, but, actually you'd better have yourself ideas to chose the suppliers, because business isn't only to get the lowest price, also need service and help each other. I have to say you can get every thing at cheap price with good quality although there have some bad suppliers sold bad products, but reliable suppliers are more than bad. So buy from China is right !

What can China do to improve energy consumption to decrease pollution -- especially in terms of coal?
Q. I'm trying to do an economic analysis of the role of energy consumption in China's ever-increasing pollution problem. If anyone could provide answers either quantitative or qualitative in nature it would be much appreciated. The sooner the better!

A. Not toally sure. They could invest in alternate energy. However, I'm not sure they will. I don't think they would... I think that American criticism/other critics of their policies is not working and has only inflamed them. However, my idea to fix this is by working with the Chinese cooperatively on trying to make some pollution agreements/agreements on how much emissions everyone should have. Its difficult but I prefer dialogue rather than criticism. Also, if they pass that, (sign the agreement and start working on it) then both countries should work on getting more alternate energy. Partnerships and cooperation could occur..and that would help However I think my ideas could be very idealist and may not occur.

How is China for a lone female traveler?
Q. If there is a single female tourist in China who doesn't speak Chinese except the basic greetings, what difficulties would she encounter? Is it safe for a female to travel alone? Are Asian tourists treated differently from Westerners? Please elaborate. Thank you!

A. If you're the one going to China, yes, I read lots of books/traveling books, etc before my trip to China (but I'm not a woman, as you can see by the pic) but my point is that all those books say it is safe for women, western woman in particular, to travel in China.Obviously like any other traveler, you have to be careful, be informed, be aware about your surroundings, use common sense. Good luck (if you're going), I can't wait to go!

China is a cultural region and ancient civilization in East Asia. China refers to a one of the world's oldest civilization comprising successive states and cultures dating back more than 6,000 years. Due to the stalemate of the last Chinese Civil War following World War II, China currently looks like two separate countries: the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Republic of China (ROC). The PRC administers and governs mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, while the ROC administers and governs Taiwan and its surrounding islands. Each government used to claim that it was the only official government of China. However, PRC is nowadays widely accepted in the world as the only offical government.
